Peter Kirsanow, a member of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission believes that illegal immigration disproportionately affects black Americans. He feels that black males especially, feel the competition from illegal immigrants. A U.S. Civil Rights Commission states:

The Commission found also that about six in 10 adult black males have a high school diploma or less, and are disproportionately employed in the low-skilled labor market in likely competition with immigrants.

The report goes continues:

Illegal immigration to the United States in recent decades has tended to depress both wages and employment rates for low-skilled American citizens, a disproportionate number of whom are black men. Expert economic opinions concerning the negative effects range from modest to significant.

With the black unemployment at about 9%, which is double that of white unemployment, Peter Kirsanow is often the lone voice sounding alarm bells over immigration policies in the Democrat party. In 2013 he penned a letter to the Congressional Black Caucus asking them to consider the implications of illegal immigration and the effect that it was having on black americans. Unfortunately, it seems that his voice of reason has fallen on deaf ears.

The Democrat party is at a cross roads with black America. On one hand, they claim to be the party of immigrants. On the other hand, they are catering to the Hispanic immigrants, who’s populations have surged in recent years, but have marginalized African Americans by being pro Amnesty and pro open borders. For the last 30 years, black America has been such a vital part of the Democrat base, and the Democrats have largely stood up for black Americans, but now it seems that the Democrats have decided to go “all in” on the Hispanic population with their immigration policies. As the divide becomes more apparent and as more black Americans feel the pressure of competition and stagnant wages there is a very real possibility that they may be driven away from a party that seems to not to care all that much.
