Coinbase have announced more details on their roadmap for listing new cryptocurrencies, according to the blog update we could see up to thirty different cryptocurrencies on Coinbase in the very near future! Several months ago, we mentioned Coinbase’s plans to support a wider range of cryptocurrencies on its platform, over Q4 2018 a new digital assets have since been added; Ethereum Classic (ETC), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Civic (CVC) and Zcash (ZEC) are now available on Coinbase Pro. “Coinbase’s goal is to offer support for all assets that meet our standards and are fully compliant with local law. Over time, we intend to offer our customers access to greater than 90% of all compliant digital assets by market cap.” – Coinbase Blog Announcement
Trust? Is It Too Little, Too Late For Coinbase?
Coinbase and other digital asset exchanges have enjoyed unrivalled growth in the sector during the height of the cryptocurrency boom; thousands of new users were signing up each week triggering server problems and overwhelmed support staff. Despite the huge success, the trust between Coinbase and the cryptocurrency community has weakened, not just because of the IRS demanding user data in early 2017 -2018, but the news/rumours of market manipulation when a new coin gets listed. Investigations were conducted after suspicions of insider trading of Bitcoin Cash, this severely damaged Coinbase’s reputation amongst its users and the cryptocurrency community.

The Future For Everyone’s Favourite Altcoins On Coinbase
To avoid future controversies and any ‘bad actors’ taking advantage of investors, Coinbase have set up a strict policy as to which cryptocurrencies are accepted, the digital asset exchange is “striving to give quality projects access to quality customers who have chosen Coinbase as their preferred platform to buy, sell, store and use cryptocurrency.” – Coinbase Policy
Interestingly, anticipation and hope for XRP and Stellar Lumens XLM to get listed continues to grow, Coinbase continues to play hard to get and give the cold shoulder, for now!
